Jennifer Stuckey, Executive Director

Jennifer Stuckey founded Embrace Learning Institute (ELI) to create more individualized educational opportunities for students with learning differences in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Her journey into the world of special education began 29 years ago with her first son, who had ADHD, ODD, high anxiety, and a high IQ. As a mother to children with diverse learning needs—including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, processing disorders, cognitive disabilities, communication disorders, neurological disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and challenges with emotional regulation—Jennifer has personally explored homeschooling, private schooling, and alternative education to find the best learning environments for her children. In 2014, Jennifer gained firsthand experience working in the public special education system, gaining an understanding of the challenges that students and families face. By 2019, she transitioned to the private specialty school setting, bridging the gap between district requirements and family needs. This experience inspired the creation of ELI, a leading special needs school and autism school, where Jennifer oversees student programs, family support, and staff development in collaboration with top experts in education and therapy. With over 25 years of experience, Jennifer has worked with schools and districts across Washington to provide Non-Public Agency (NPA) services, supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, 2e learning profiles, and ASD. Holding degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice, she has implemented behavior programs using PBS and ABA principles and is a certified Right Response Instructor. Originally from the California Bay Area and Hawaiian Islands, Jennifer now splits her time between her home in the Seattle/Tacoma area and Hawaii with her husband, Kevin, their 10 children (four still at home), and three dogs. She enjoys visiting her grandchildren in Texas, spending time with family and friends, reading, taking long walks, and being outdoors, especially at the beach.

Kevin has served as a Seattle police officer for nearly 30 years, holding leadership roles as Union President, co-founder of the Community Policing Commission, school resource officer, and current President of the Black Law Enforcement Association of Washington. He is a certified Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) instructor, a certified de-escalation trainer, and a recognized leader in communication and alternatives to the use of force. His experience as a person of color and police officer, combined with his commitment to school safety and student success, enables Kevin to lead ELI in innovative crisis response and de-escalation strategies, helping reduce the use of restraint and seclusion. Kevin and his wife, Jennifer, have 10 children and two dogs. When he’s not working, Kevin is a championship BBQ pitmaster who enjoys finding new recipes and cooking.
